We made it past the home, termite and structural inspections and have closed on our first home together. I think it was pretty tough for both my wife and I to be handed the keys and have to head back to work, but as soon as the work day came to a close we raced out to our house for the first time as homeowners (ignoring the large majority in which the lender technically owns of course).
We decided this was the day to take pictures of the whole house, before any improvements or updates. Let’s take a tour and you will be all caught up.
Here is our kitchen- harvest gold counter-tops and sink, yellow ceilings, our cabinets are built on a curved wall and have some sort of crest glued on in the center, damaged beige tiles, and a very odd peninsula to finish it off.
Now on to the dining room – Yes, the yellow ceilings continue, but I think the oddest thing in this room is the wallpaper. It looks like it was printed with a brown, antique-sponged look everywhere except for a 2ft x 3ft section above the left wall-sconce.

Enter our living room – We really love the large brick fireplace wall and the recessed living space, however, we aren’t really sure how to lay wood or laminate floors in this room. We haven’t found many great options for a threshold piece that can follow the curve- any suggestions?
Next is the hallway, a spare bedroom, the jack-and-jill bath, and the lime-green laundry room. Don’t go anywhere- we are saving the best for last!
And now for the “master retreat?” No descriptions- I think this bedroom and bathroom combo speaks for itself.

So now you are caught up. This is where we are. We will post different aspects of our process as we go, will give you an idea of styles we love and what we wish we could see in this house. If you have ideas or comments, please let us know. We are going to take on a project or two that fall within our budget, for now we are steam cleaning and leaving the house empty for a few days. Our first change is coming soon!

Wow Randi, you were right, the tub defies description.
I like the curved walls, very unique. I’m interested to see what you guys are able to do with it!
Thanks. We are hoping we can do some neat things with it. The only problem is it all seems to cost money.
Wow. The only thing missing from the “lair” is the mirrored ceiling!
Actually, I think it’s kinda cute…and think of the quality time you and Randi will get to spend together while updating the house. Looking forward to the tour.
Thank you! We think it has its own little charm. Cant wait for you to come and see it.
